Halloween!
How did you celebrate Halloween? Was there any kind of party? Did you dress up for the occasion?
Well, even though Halloween is a typical American celebration, here in Brazil we also celebrate it, mainly at our Language school, Casa Thomas Jefferson. Some crazy teachers, like me, even dress up to teach classes, and even some students take risks (like Fernanda, the black widow!). Students have a lot of fun seeing their teachers making fool of themselves, and it is hard to teach something serious!!!
Well, at least, it is the perfect time to say "oh, that teacher is a witch!"
Hope to hear from you and see your own Halloween pictures!

The Halloween photos are terrific!
As far as I know, no one at our college wore costumes to their classes this year, but that has happened in the past. In many businesses (for example, banks and supermarkets), however, costumes were common. In one supermarket, I saw a very big male clerk dressed as a ballerina (!) and in a drugstore, I saw a clerk dressed as a black cat (!).
No "trick-or-treaters" came to my house this year—probably because I was working in the back of the house and didn't have the front lights turned on.
Do you know anything about the historical background of Halloween? It's really quite interesting:

Well, Halloween is a wonderful celebration because all parents try to buy costumes for their children. The night is the best part, going from place to place with the children asking for candies or chocolates.

Personally, I don not believe the Halloween, but I have three kids. I let my kids do the trick or treat. My two older kids are too big to wear a costume, but my youngest dressed up as a witch. You're not going to believe how much candy we have!
It seems like they had a wonderful time. I am worry about my dental bill (Sad Parent).

I didn't know about Halloween before I came to the United States because my country doesn't celebrate it.
During Halloween I really enjoyed watching kids.
I would like to wear a costume someday. I would probably look good as an M & M Custom (ha ha ha).

Hi, class. How are you guys doing today?
I like your Haloween pictures.
For Haloween, my sister, my friend and I were cute devils, and we went out and asked for candy with my little brother. He was a skeleton or something like that. We had a lot of fun!
I also got a costume for my puppy. He was a devil too.
Well, you guys take care, and we hope to hear from you soon.

Carla and students,
I do not celebrate Haloween because in Mexico we celebrate El día del Muerto, but because my daughter was born in the States, she celebrates it, and she got dressed as a bride, and her dad took her to "trick or treat." Then on Nov. 1st and 2nd we celebrated my custom and celebrated El día de los Muertos.

I love Halloween! You don't have to be a kid to wear a costume. This year, I went to a party & everyone was supposed to wear a costume. That was fun because you feel like a kid. What about you guys? Did you guys wear a costume on Halloween?

Halloween is a peculiar custom to me. I did experience October 31st, 2005 with children and adults dressing in a ghostly way. Children going to house after house for trick or treating were getting candy while being assisted by the adults.

Well, we don't celebrate Halloween in Mexico, but Mexicans have a similar custom, El Día de los Muertos. In English this means "The Day of the Dead." People celebrate this day by taking food to the dead in the cemeteries. This custom is very popular in Mexico.

I celebrate Halloween for my children. They went to trick or treat around my neighborhood wearing Power Avenger costumes. One word red, one wore blue.
