Response to Kelly´s Question
Hi, Kelly.
You asked if there is anything that I would like to do with my students that I have not been able to do.
There are two things that I would like to do:
— I'd like to spend more time just talking with my students. Most of them do not speak English very much outside of class and they need more practice in order to develop their language skills and to use the English that they learn at the college where I work.
— I'd like to spend more time in individual tutoring. At one time, I did individual tutoring very regularly in our college's Learning Support Center, but last year and this year, I didn't have time to continue with it. I miss tutoring! When I tutor individually, I think I learn more about the specific language problems that students have than I do in class. I also think I have more opportunities to help students when I work with one or two or three of them than when I work with an entire class.

Dennis,
You are special teacher. It's important your worry about your students. It should be interesting work as individual tutoring, because you get a great interation, the both learn a lot.
Olá, Kelly.
Yes, I care a great deal about my students and try to help all of them as much as I can. It's much easier to give individual attention in an individual or small-group tutoring session, however, than it is to give individual attention in class.
I hope my students learn a lot. Some of them don't realize that learning rules and vocabulary are just the beginning of the content of my classes: what I really want them to do is to be able to use the content of my classes in their own lives.
Take care!
Dennis
