Hello.

My name is Peggy Evans. I grew up in the midwestern state of Illinois, but have lived in Arizona for 33 years.

I have three grown children, three granddaughters, and one grandson. My oldest grandchild is almost five years old, and the youngest is seven months old.

I'm also a teacher; I have been teaching ten to twelve year olds for almost twenty years. My school has students who have moved here from Mexico and some other countries. They are busy learning English as they study other subjects.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Peggy

Hi, Peggy.

Tell me again: whereabouts in Illinois are you from?

I'm from a village called Louisville. It's midway between St. Louis and Vincennes, Indiana.

It sounds like you have a wonderful family. Enjoy your time with them!

Do you enjoy working with non-native English speakers?

By the way, don't forget to take a digital photo or two of Chelsi. Be sure it's at the highest resolution and that you type .jpg or .gif at the end of the file. Then send it to me as an e-mail attachment. You can use my college e-mail address: dennis.oliver and the rest as usual.

Take care—

Dennis

Hi Dennis,
Belleville is just across the Mississippi from St. Louis.

I discovered my daughter has borrowed my camera, so I don't have it right now. I will tell Pearl so something else can be done.

As you probably have discovered, having students from other cultures makes for an interesting class.

Thanks for introducing us to your blog.

Hi, Peggy.

Ah, yes: Belleville. Thanks. I used to go by Belleville every time I flew into St. Louis and then rented a car to drive from there to my home town.

No problem about the camera. I'll try to come on Monday and take Chelsi's photo then.

Yes, having a rich cultural mix in a class makes things much more interesting—and also helps everyone realize that there are many different ways of looking at the world.

You're welcome about this blog. I hope some of Carla's students send you messages soon.

Hi Peggy, I'm Carla's student. Our class is very funny and productive. The students are from several places of Brazil and it's very good to learn about differents experiences.
I have been living at Brasília since 2005, january. I have a daugther called Dora and she is 9 years old. My husband is André.
I work as a public lawyer since 1994 and I like my job so much.
I have been studying at Casa Thomas Jefferson since last february but I studied english for many years when I was a teenager and I lived at south of Brazil, at Porto Alegre. Bye, Mariana.

Hi Mariana,

You and your husband must be very busy with your jobs and school. Your daughter will learn a lot from your dedication to learning. How do you like living in Brasilia? Is it very different from where you lived before?

Best of luck to you and your family.

Hello, Peggy!!!

When I was a child, I knew to knit, but now I don't remember anymore.
After working, I like going to gym. I do workout and indoor biking. I guess very important to spend one or two hours for day to do fitness four times for week. When I finish my work late, I go to my house, because my daughter wait for me.
On weekends, my favorite hobby is to stay with my family and to receive my friends in my house in order to watch a movie, to eat foundee or talk about ours lives. And you, what do you do on weekends?

Hi Peggy,
Brasília is a very good city to live. It is a lay out place, very different to others places. The addresses are in code and it is difficult to understand at the beggining. Some friends told me that Brasília looks like Washington. I lived at Porto Alegre, a nice city at south of Brazil. How is the city that you live? Kisses, Mariana.
