I think that some of you are curious about the children's books that Pearl's students produced this summer. Photos of most of them are now online HERE.

Unfortunately, I could only show the covers of the books because each one was abut 32 pages long (and some were longer).

The Midnight Woman

The midnight woman is a famous folktale all around the world.

It is about the appearance of a very beautiful woman dressed in white or red.

People say she was muredered but still doesn't know it. So she walks around like a lost soul. She doesn't appear at midnight, that's actually the time she disappears.

The lady shows up as a normal girl to guys who are alone in bars. She sits and asks them to take her to her home. All men get crazy because she is so pretty and say yes. They walk together and when they get to a very high wall she says there is where she lives.

Then the man sees they're near a cemitery and before he says anything the church bells tells him it's midnight and she disappears.

Other times she shows up by deserted roads asking for rides and the same thing happens.In front of the cemitery she invites the driver to come in her home. He gets very scared when he sees it's the cemitery and watches her disappear exactly at midnight.

São Sepé

This is a folktale from the South of Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul.

Sepé was a valiant and good warrior that fought against foreigners to defend the "Missões" lands. He was a very special person that had a moon on his forehead.

At night or in combat the moon shone helping soldiers. When he died, God took back the moon from his forehead and put it in the sky of "Rio Grande do Sul" to protect the people who live there, and the stars are called "Cruzeiro do Sul".

A note from the teacher! Mariana is a very proud "Gaúcha", a person who is from the South of Brazil. In the South, they keep lots of traditions and it is full of Folktales!

Hi, all!

I usually get up early every day, but on the weekends I try to sleep more. From monday to friday I have classes at University of Brasilia during the morning and afternoon. Every other day, I have classes at night and arrive late at home, so I sometimes look very tired and upset.

Moreover, I'm trying to study to pass in a public exam and to do a Master's Degree. To prepare myself to the Master's, I will start to study in a research project in a few month.

I'd like to travel around my country and nearby, too.

On the weekends, I usually spend my time with frien ds or at my family's house. I don't have time to practice any sports or courses that I would like to, but I hope to have more free time soon. This is my life in a nutshell!

Hi all!

I'm Marilda. I work part-time every day, but my life is really busy.

I have two children, Flávia (11) and Amanda (9). I live for my kids. I help them do their homework and their school work. I take them twice a week to their English course at Casa Thomas Jefferson. At night, I take care of my kids. I talk to them every night to know about their school and to know how their day was.

While they have English classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the morning, I have English classes, too. Besides, on Tuesdays and Thursdays I go to my French course. I love to study foreign languages.

On Saturday morning, I go out with my family. Sometimes we go to the club or to the City Park.
In the afternoon, we go to the Shopping Mall.

On Sundays, we usually go to church. We are Catholic. In the afternoon, we often stay home and have our friends and family there. My family is really big.

Fortunately, I have two vacations a year and we always travel. I love it!

I was born in Londrina, in the state of Paraná. When I was 11 years old, I moved to Santos, in the state of São Paulo. Three years ago, I moved again, this time to Brasília.

I'm 37 years old, and I work at the "Advocacia-Geral da União"as a public lawyer. Currently, I work in the Director's office.

I'm single and I don't have children. I live alone, near Casa Thomas Jefferson.

Sometimes I travel to Santos to visit my family.

I always go jogging in the City Park. It's very close to my apartment.

I have a sailing boat (laser), but nowadays I rarely sail because my boat is in Santos . When I lived in Santos, I frequently sailed.

Once a week, I teach Constitutional Law to blind people. They study it for public entrance exams.

I am Rosanna and I work hard every day as an Engineer, but I love it! I think it would be boring if I were only a housekeeper.

I get up early every day, about 5:30 am, and I go to the fitness club. After this, I come back home, take a shower, have breakfast and drive half an hour to arrive at my work.

I spend all day away from home and when I get back home, I study, I talk with my sons and my husband, and I take care of my house.

After 11 pm, I go to be.

On the weekends, I rest visit friends or spend some hours reading a good book.

I love to travel. When it's possible, I spend some days away from Brasília.

I'm very happy and I love my life.

It is a big pleasure for us to see you around. Although we only have like three weeks of class, the fantastic thing about blogging is that you can keep interacting as long as you wish, no matter where you are! There are some great examples of exchanges that happened here even though students were on vacation.

My name is Peggy Evans. I grew up in the midwestern state of Illinois, but have lived in Arizona for 33 years.

I have three grown children, three granddaughters, and one grandson. My oldest grandchild is almost five years old, and the youngest is seven months old.

I'm also a teacher; I have been teaching ten to twelve year olds for almost twenty years. My school has students who have moved here from Mexico and some other countries. They are busy learning English as they study other subjects.

This is our Children's Literature class. Our class is small but diverse: it includes nurses, teachers, military personnel, a domestic engineer, and a future dental hygienist—all with a variety of ages and backgrounds. Everyone in the class moved to Arizona from other places, including the states of California, Texas, Illinois, and Mississippi, and also from Taiwan and Korea.

I think that you are 36 years old, mainly because your son´s age. However, if you hadn´t mentioned your sons, I´d guess you were younger than 36 years old.

Actually, I believe to be very important that the mom take care of the house and the family. Women don´t don´t have any time to do this... I have a daughter and I miss spending more time with my little kid.
